Artist in Residence Program
The Artist in Residence Program is a partnership between Roger Anton Elementary School teachers and artists from The Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. Every classroom kindergarten through sixth grade has 12 workshops (during the school day) with a professional artist and a culmination performance for parents and students. Each artist also provides a Professional Development Workshop for teachers and an Evening Workshop for all of Anton's parents, students and siblings.

The Visual and Performing Arts disciplines are scheduled in a four year rotation: Visual Arts, Music, Theater and Dance.

This Year's Focus
This year's focus is Visual Arts and includes Karen Emonts (Mask Making: African Animal Masks, Aztec Mosaic Masks and Peruvian Metal Masks), Ellen Schulze (Puppets bringing curriculum to life) and John Zeretzke (Artwork using a myriad of media including decorating flutes for impoverished children in other countries - see his website www.FlutesAcrosstheWorld).

The Fine Arts Program provides a variety of assemblies throughout the year. For Red Ribbon Week Michael Katz will present "Do the Right Thing" which teaches compassion versus bullying. Other performances teach respect and inspire interest in multi-cultural studies.
